Evolution in Texas - the Continuing Saga

Well, things still seem to be mixed up and in confusion in Texas when it comes to evolution and education. In yet another set of votes the Texas State Board of Education seems to have gotten rid of the "strengths and weaknesses" language the creationists wanted to retain, but have opened up new problems by voting to add language requiring students to "analyze and evaluate the sufficiency or insufficiency of natural selection to explain the complexity of the cell." This is language aimed at getting intelligent design into the classroom, of course, and sounds just as bad as the "strengths and weaknesses" language to me. But I guess it is not final because there is another vote tomorrow that science supporters hope will reverse much of that language. The Houston Chronicle's story on it today is here.
